For Dr. Stephanie Miller, a dedicated breast cancer surgeon, the mountains aren’t just a scenic escape—they are a respite for reconnection and where family ties are forged.

Amidst the demands of her medical career, heli-skiing has become a space that’s brought the most important things in her life together. Namely, family.

For Stephanie, this passion for heli-skiing spans three generations. Watch here:

Stephanie’s father, Millard Alexander, introduced the family to the ear-to-ear-grin-inducing thrill of untouched powder and expansive terrain, embedding a love for the sport that Stephanie grabbed with both hands (or skis, as it were).

Stephanie now continues this legacy by sharing it with her two children, Matison and Dieterich. For this family, heli-skiing truly transcends the one-dimensional realm of sport. It’s a cherished tradition.

“It’s more than just the act of skiing because it has become what unites us as a family,” Stephanie said.

“It’s an active experience together in the great outdoors. It pushes us not only physically, but emotionally and mentally. It’s great time that we can spend together and not do anything else.”

Though, they of course just plain love arcing left and right turns through perfectly spaced trees and beneath the imposing peaks of the Canadian West. After all, skiing is damn fun.

So here’s to family time, and the ties (or shared lines) that bind.

Speaking of, would you ever consider a heli-skiing trip with your family? Who would sign up straight away? And who might need a little convincing? Tell us all about it in the comments below.
