CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures has been awarded the TIABC Innovation Award at the 2026 BC Tourism Industry Conference, presented by the Tourism Industry Association of British Columbia, recognizing the company’s leadership in developing innovative fuel storage and distribution systems for remote backcountry operations.

Built on a legacy of innovation as a leader in the heli-skiing industry, CMH continues to advance how remote mountain tourism operates. The award recognizes the company’s work modernizing fuel storage and distribution systems across its network of backcountry lodges – enhancing environmental protection, improving safety standards, and increasing efficiency in locations accessible only by helicopter.

This 10-year initiative is at its halfway point, with four lodges having completed full fuel-system rebuilds and another project underway. By setting a new benchmark for fuel storage and monitoring, CMH is reducing environmental risk, strengthening workplace safety, and improving long-term operational resilience in the mountains.

“Innovation has always defined our company, and our sustainability team is carrying that legacy forward in remarkable ways.

Will Forbes, CMH/Alterra Experiences President.

The initiative reflects CMH’s integrity and broader commitment to stewardship and respect for the lands and tenures where it operates. By investing in infrastructure that goes beyond standard maintenance requirements, the company continues to strengthen environmental safeguards while supporting safe and reliable operations in remote mountain environments.
