Dear Skiers, Riders, and Summer Adventurers:
This certainly was a winter season we will never forget. For the first time in CMH’s 57-year history, we did not heli-ski or host guests at our lodges.
As the world grappled with the onset of COVID, we modified our procedures so we could safely operate a Winter 2020/21 program. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to do that, as Canada’s borders remain closed and non-essential inter-provincial travel is still discouraged.
The CMH way
I would like to thank our wonderful staff for your tireless efforts during the past year. You built contingency plans and protocols and managed to stay positive despite the many setbacks we encountered. You maintained our lodges in a state of readiness in the hope of welcoming guests who never arrived. These past 14 months have been rife with anxiety and uncertainty, yet you gave it your all, each and every day, helping us make it through.
You rallied for us
To our eternally loyal guests, I cannot thank you enough for sticking by us during these trying times. Practically all of you rolled your deposits into Winter 2021/22 and now we are nearly sold out. I’ve received so many calls and emails about how excited you are for next winter, and that several of you are booking additional trips to make up for lost turns. We are optimistic that travel will resume in time for the upcoming ski season – especially for those who are fully vaccinated – and that we will be back heli-skiing with you soon.
I have always been amazed by the positive impact that CMH has on our guests and that we are such an important part of your lives, as you are ours. Your kind words of support and loyalty re-energized us through the challenging days, and we cannot be more excited to welcome you back to CMH.
My next chapter
On a personal note, this will likely be my final CMH end-of-season letter. This past fall, my family and I had the opportunity to move back to the US to be closer to our families. We moved to Park City, UT where I became President of Deer Valley Resort (CMH and Deer Valley are both owned by Alterra Mountain Company). We will choose my successor this summer. I am confident that no matter who is chosen, CMH will carry on with its mission of guiding people through life-changing mountain experiences. I will continue to keep a watchful eye on CMH and ensure that the progress we’ve made over the past six years is not lost, but further built upon.
It has been an absolute privilege to be associated with this organization and easily the highlight of my career. I have met so many wonderful guests and staff during my tenure. I look forward to continuing my adventures with CMH and hope to see you in the heli soon. Be safe everyone and have a great summer!
